What to wear at a session:
I know a lot of people have a hard time coming up with outfit ideas for their photo session, so I put together this blog post to help you out. Sometimes finding the perfect outfit can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! Here is a few of my favorite tips & tricks to add to any outfit.
*The days of all white, all black shirts are a thing of the past 😉 Picture time is a time to embrace your own individuality, your favorite looks, layers, prints, and bold colors.
What do I wear? I love to add one pop of color in all my outfits. I find a neutral color, like a gray dress, and build upon that. Add one pop of color like a red necklace and a red loose sweater.
Add layers, hats, scarfs, headbands…. and don’t forget about the shoes! I also LOVE finding good deals on clothes. I might do it a little too often but when I shop, the best find of the day, was usually the cheapest. The best time to go shopping is when a season is almost over. I scored this $3 gold skirt from Rue 21 the other day (One of my favorite stores!)
Families: coordinating colors is in. Choose two to three main colors and one accent pop of color.
Wear what you feel good in!
Avoid wearing a lot of green when having photos taken in a grassy/ wooded area.
Stay away from fluorescent colors as they tend to color cast on faces & necks.
Layers & accesseries! (belts, cardigans, statement necklaces, scarves, blazers, hats, headbands, vests)
P.S. Don’t forget about the shoes!
Create a theme to your session!
It’s so fun to turn a photo session into a themed shoot. Got a fun idea? Let’s try it!

Birthday cake smash
I encourage every session to include at least one of these props. Bringing your own prop adds a unique element to your session but it also makes it fun! PLEASE consider bringing any of these on the list. (Pinterest is a great place to look for prop ideas also!)
